Famous Art Songs
The programme brings together some of the most expressive works of the Russian vocal repertoire. From the lyrical reflections of Tchaikovsky and the deeply emotional songs of Rachmaninoff, the concert culminates in Mussorgsky’s dramatic cycle Songs and Dances of Death — one of the most powerful masterpieces of the Russian song tradition. The music will be performed in the original Russian. A printed programme with English translations of the texts will be provided. The concert lasts approximately 60 minutes.

The duets were great. No sets or costumes, but honestly that didn’t matter — being so close, you could hear every nuance and actually see what the singers were feeling.Andrew, London
I didn’t expect it, but what struck me most was Mussorgsky — the cycle about death. Efim is a true master of transformation; I couldn’t take my eyes off him. At first I was following the translation, but then I realised I understood everything without words.David, Manchester
What an evening! Singers and pianists showing such talent, I loved it!!!Francoise, London
A wonderful evening of glorious singing. A memorable concert.Gordon, London
It is a rare pleasure to hear such fine operatic voices at such close quarters — especially in music one has loved for many years.Anne, London
Most inspiring and moving performance by Efim and other impressive singers. This was a wonderful concert that you cannot miss!Vania, London
An interpretation of Aleko’s cavatina unlike any I had heard before — rich in nuance and remarkable subtlety. It was deeply touching — I couldn’t hold back my tears by the end.Natalya, London
